Joris de Vries (Chairman)

Joris de Vries is Investment Manager at Hooge Raedt Social Venture (HRSV) in Tanzania. HRSV is an impact fund out of the Netherlands seeking to make socially oriented investments in East Africa. At HRSV he is responsible for the development and implementation of a new, comprehensive investment strategy, including the definition of target sectors, investment and impact objectives and performance metrics. He also identifies new investment opportunities, perform due diligence, make investments and perform post-investment monitoring for HRSV.

Parallel to his work as Investment Manager for HRSV, Joris de Vries is Project Manager at FT Kilimanjaro (FTK), Tanzania. The NGO FTK is a joint initiative of TPC Ltd. in Tanzania and the FEMI Foundation in the Netherlands to combat poverty in Lower Moshi, using a community-based, integrated development approach. In 2008, Joris led the start-up phase of the NGO in Tanzania and the first project, developed the original five-year plan, and implemented interventions in health, education, finance, agriculture and infrastructure.

Prior to working and living in Tanzania Joris had been living and working in New York (USA) as a Director of Strategic Partnerships at Millenium Promise Alliance and Director of Corporate Relations at ILC-USA. He holds an MBA and a Master’s degree in African Studies.
